Edmonton SuperLeague Playoff Winners

Congratulations to the James Pahl rink who is this years Big Rock "A" Division Playoff Winner.  James and his rink  took an extra-end to take the title for the second year in a row.  In the Coca-Cola "B" Division Les Steuber edged his way through to claim the title.  Congratulations to both teams. 

In support of our sponsors, Pizza Hut and Big Rock Brewery, the night was rounded off with the presentation of awards, the raffle prize draw and of course free Pizza and Beer.  Thanks to all teams who showed up for the event.  We had a great year.

This years Wes Montgomery Award winner was Kevin Tym.  Presenting the award was Mark Johnson on behalf of CFCW radio.  Mark and Wes curled together and was more than happy to hear and present the award to Kevin Tym.  Well deserved by Kevin and many thanks to CFCW for sponsoring the award for the fourth year in a row.  

Edmonton SuperLeague Rankings

Congratulations to the team of Rick McKague, Jim Moats, Rob McKague and Paul Strandlund who are this years grand aggregate winners.  Teams rounding out the A side of the playoff are Pahl, Hutchings, White, Hannah, Krepps, Johnson and Martin, respectively. 

The B side finished with Fletcher on top, followed by Climenhaga, Rogers, Eglauer, Steuber, Henderson, Appelman and Bridgewater.  The Golden Bears and Kris Sutton round out the league and will not proceed to the playoff round. 

The preceeding rankings will be the determining factor in next years entry.  The top 12 teams are guaranteed a spot in next years league.  The remaining spots will be determined, if necessary, by a playoff.  Assuming 100% return, teams Steuber, Henderson, Appelman, Bridgewater, Golden Bears and Sutton are currently in that playoff.  Any of the 12 teams with a guaranteed spot must return with 3 of 4 players, of any combination to retain their spots.  If they return with less than 3 players their spot is also forfeited to the playoff and their team must also qualify.   As we sit now we will be going to 16 teams next year however this is open to change depending on developments over the summer months.

Click here to access this years playoff schedule.   It came down to the draw to the button tie breakers with log jams at 2nd, 6th and 9th places.  As per the rules in these cases we go straight to the tie breaker rankings in our draw to the button earlier this season.  Sheets will be assigned when we can confirm which are available next week.

The first weeks schedule has been posted.  The remainder of the schedule should be available later this week.  There are some tweaks happening to make it a little more even on the early draw/late draw ratios.  Please check the schedule page for time and sheet assignments.

Edmonton SuperLeague 2008 - 2009 League Forms

Please click here to access the Edmonton SuperLeague Application form.  This form along with $600.00 is required to concretely reserve your spot in the 2008 - 2009 season.  It is due, via postal mail or personal delivery to the address on the form by August 13, 2008. 

Please click here to access the Edmonton SuperLeague Team Intent form.  This form requires no money to be sent and can be submitted via email to let the board know of your intent to enter a team.  It can be submitted via email to sl_board@supercurling.com.
